Michael was born in Hong Kong and lived in Malaysia before
coming to Canada in 1972. He obtained his B.Sc. in Biochemistry
from the University of Alberta in 1976 and his MBA from the
University of Western Ontario in 1981. Michael started his
career in chartered accountancy in Winnipeg with
PriceWaterhouseCoopers. He was admitted to the Manitoba
Institute of CAs in 1984. In the same year, he joined the Hong
Kong office of PWC on a two year tour of duty. When Michael
returned to Canada in 1986, he joined the Vancouver office of
PWC. From 1988 to 1991, Michael?s primary practice was in
Canadian income taxation. Since Michael co-founded the firm in
1991, he continues to maintain a strong interest in Canadian
income taxation. His preferred practice areas include tax
planning for owner-managed businesses, non-resident investments
in Canada, and business advisory services to small and medium-
sized enterprises.

Bernard immigrated from Hong Kong to Canada in 1975. He
received
his B.Comm in accounting from the University of British
Columbia
in 1983 and his MBA in Finance from the University of Oregon
USA
with honors in 1984. He was admitted to the Ontario Institute
of
CAs in 1987 and the Institute of CAs of British Columbia in
1988. From 1985 to 1990, Bernard worked for
PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Toronto and Vancouver. Since forming
Lam Lo Nishio in 1991, Bernard has advised medium and small
businesses on accounting and taxation matters. Bernard has
considerable experience in audit, and income and commodity
taxation. His preferred practice areas include real estate,
medical/dental, hospitality, small business, computer systems
design, non-resident investments, transportation, and trading.

Don was born in 1954 in the Yukon Territories in northern
Canada
and grew up on Vancouver Island. He graduated with a Bachelor
of Commerce from the University of British Columbia in 1978.
He
obtained his CA in 1980 and moved to Tokyo in 1981. While in
Japan, he studied Japanese and gained valuable experience
working for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu until 1985 when he
transferred back to Deloitte Touche in Vancouver. In 1987, he
completed the 2-year tax specialist program of the Canadian
Institute of Chartered Accountants. In 1988, he moved to
PriceWaterhouseCoopers managing the tax responsibilities for
the
Japanese practice group until 1992.
In 1992, he joined fellow co-workers Mike Lam and Bernard Lo
from PWC to form Lam Lo Nishio, Chartered Accountants. Since
that time he has advised small and medium-sized companies,
individual entrepreneurs, Canadian subsidiaries of foreign
corporations, new immigrants and non-residents; particularly in
the area of income tax.
